Degraded Stain from water and UV damage. Heat loss from loose or missing sealants between logs and around windows and doors.
The problem with unprotected wood is that it will soak in moisture and then dry out in cycles.
If you allow a Wet/Dry cycle to occur on the wood surface, the wood will begin to rot from the outside.
If several applications of the stain or paint has been applied to the wood surface, it will build up a thick coating which traps moisture inside the wood.
Moisture trapped inside the wood will cause the wood to rot from the inside out or dry rot.

Remove the existing wood stain from the logs, acid treat the logs and then apply new stain on the refurbished wood.
Chemicals used to remove the old stain and acid treat the wood are Bio friendly, water soluble products.
New technologies (nano) in wood stains will allow moisture to leave the wood but not allow moisture back in.
Modern wood stains and Topcoats will block harmful Ultra Violet rays which destroy wood fibers on the surface.
The Process
Our restoration process begins with RESEALING the structure. If our initial inspection of the building reveals loose or failed caulking/chinking it is removed and replaced with new material. Damaged wood can be repaired with our Borate and wood Epoxy repair kits. When the caulk has dried sufficiently, the old stain is removed using a Bio friendly wood stripper and pressure washing. After the wood surface has dried, a wood lightener is applied to the wood. When the wood has dried again completely, the new stain is applied to the cleaned wood. A clear coat with UV inhibitors is applied after the final coat of stain is dry.
